The Unschool Camp
Children with learning differences often become so frustrated by school experiences that they never realize learning can be lots of fun. Campers play and have fun while gaining new perspectives on learning and developing the social skills and self-esteem needed to be successful.
At this ldquoun-schoolrdquo camp, instructors and aides use games, multi-sensory techniques ndash eyes, ears, touch, muscle movement — and systematic instruction to improve basic reading and math skills. Science, theater arts, poetry, and computer mini-courses let children explore the world beyond the traditional classroom. One of the most popular activities is theater week where the campers script and act in a play. Every camper that participates receives a copy of the videotaped production.
