Blind & Low Vision Services -Ohio

Our Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) offers vocational rehabilitation services to Ohioans who are blind or have low vision and want to gain, maintain, or return to meaningful employment or personal independence.

We understand that low vision and blindness can present barriers along the path to employment and independence, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

Ohioans Who Are Blind or Have Low Vision

OOD provides Ohioans with the training, technology, and skills needed to reach their employment goals and live independently. Our vocational rehabilitation counselors work with individuals to develop personalized plans to guide their journey.

Older Blind Ohioans

Ohio’s aging population faces many challenges associated with vision loss — often experiencing increased difficulty when participating in daily activities that require sight. OOD can help older blind Ohioans overcome this challenge and maintain independence through services designed specifically for independent living.

Blind Entrepreneurs in Ohio

OOD empowers Ohioans who are legally blind to have entrepreneurial careers operating food service management and vending businesses throughout the state. Our specialists provide these self-employed, licensed operators with the management consulting needed to help their businesses succeed.

Services, Programs & Partnerships

Much of the support we provide Ohioans with disabilities involves partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, and other public and community organizations. Together, we offer services and programs personalized to each person’s unique needs.
