Our mission is to provide students with physical disabilities and health conditions and their families with supports to ensure a successful transition to and through higher education.

We will work with your student to make sure they are able to:

ndash Discuss their disability with clarity

ndash Know their needs and self advocate

ndash Understand the college accommodations process

ndash Request accommodations (including housing, academic, and programmatic)

ndash Manage medication and healthcare needs

ndash Prepare for college academics

ndash Seek support

One thing that surprises most parents, is that once your student starts college, they are no longer a part of the process to request accommodations due to the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Students with physical disabilities and health conditions who want to receive accommodations in college will have to self-disclose to the disability support office and follow the process to request accommodations. For many students this is the first time that they have had to navigate this aspect of their life independently. Of course, there is a lot that needs to be done before the student even starts the college search process, and Accessible College can help! We offer a number of services that are aimed at making sure that your student has the necessary tools in place to be successful. After each session we will send a customized email summarizing our conversation and outlining the next steps.
