Potential Development students can earn a high school diploma while learning employment and life skills necessary to grow into independent young adults. We use the Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) method, which focuses on structured teaching, highly visual planning and organization strategies, and predictable environments to help learners on the autism spectrum to become more independent.

Our school follows the Ohio Learning Standards and Extended Standards for language arts, math, science, and social studies. To prepare students for life after high school, we help them examine career possibilities and offer exploratory visits to several employers and agencies.

As a charter non-public school, students at PDHS earn their high school diploma by accumulating the required course credits, passing the End of Course Exams or Alternate Assessment of the Ohio Graduation Tests (OGT) with or without accommodations, and earning the required Ohio State Graduation Seals.

Additionally, PDHS administration and staff assist students and their parents or guardians in navigating the ever-changing graduation requirements in Ohio for students with disabilities.
