Potential Development School for Autism

Potential Development School for Autism

It began as one classroom and a handful of students. Sixty-nine years later, Potential Development School for Students with Autism has grown into an academic magnet that provides a comprehensive PreK-12th grade education to students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Potential Development provides a safe, structured educational environment with supportive services that give our students the necessary skills and independence to lead a productive life.
We know every student learns differently and take pride in offering students individualized learning opportunities.
Students who attend Potential Development have an extended school year from mid-August to mid-July as well as a low student-to-teacher ratio in each classroom. Our staff is trained in the Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication Handiccapped Children (TEACCH) Method, which encourages an environment with visual schedules, work and play areas, and organizational systems to promote learning. Through this approach as well as therapy services, we encourage meaningful engagement, flexibility and independence.
