Tarry House, Inc. will provide quality client-driven, family-supported and evidenced based residential recovery services to assist persons with severe mental illness and/or addictions to maximize independence..

Our Philosophy

Recognizes that all people served have the right to be as independent and autonomous as possible. Tarry House focuses on working with the individual toward personal recovery goals. It is our privilege and responsibility to provide the best services possible to prepare persons for the greatest amount of independence in the community

Our History

Tarry House has been serving adults with mental illness for over fifty years. Tarry House began as a project of the Summit Service League in 1967 to provide a half-way house for adults being discharged from institutions during the new age of deinstitutionalization. The Tarry House Women’s Board continued to raise funds and guide the program until 1969 when the charter of the Board of Trustees was established.
